St Abbs House Clearance

St Abbs is a tiny working harbour village beneath one of the finest stretches of coastline in Scotland, as well known for diving and wildlife as for its close-knit fishing community.

The Story of St Abbs

St Abbs takes its name from Saint Æbbe, a seventh-century abbess said to have founded a religious house on the headland above the village. The harbour itself was largely built in the 1830s at the expense of the local landowner, and the settlement grew as a herring and lobster fishing station through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The village and the sea around it are now protected as Scotland's first Voluntary Marine Reserve, drawing divers and naturalists from across the country, alongside the fishing families who have lived here for generations. Homes in St Abbs range from tiny harbourside cottages to newer houses on the hill, and access for a clearance often needs a little local knowledge — which we have.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you clear a house in St Abbs?

Most single-property clearances in St Abbs are completed within one to two days, depending on size and access.

Do you recycle or donate items instead of sending everything to landfill?

Yes. We sort every clearance for reuse, donation and recycling first, and only send genuine waste to landfill.

Can you clear a property before probate is granted?

We can carry out a full inventory and hold items securely, then complete the clearance once you have the legal go-ahead.

Is a house clearance in St Abbs disruptive for neighbours?

No. Our vehicles and teams are sized for narrow village streets, and we work quietly and tidily throughout.

Do I need to be present during the clearance?

Not necessarily. Many clients arrange access and a key, and we send photos before and after so you stay informed.

What items can’t you take?

We can remove almost everything, including furniture and appliances; a small number of hazardous items need separate licensed disposal, which we can arrange.
